  क्रिप्स योजना :  सर स्टॅफर्ड क्रिप्स यांनी काँग्रेसचे प्रतिनिधी मौलाना आझाद, जवाहरलाल नेहरू, मुस्लिम लीगचे अध्यक्ष बॅ. जीना, हिंदू महासभेचे बॅरिस्टर सावरकर, दलितांचे प्रतिनिधी डॉ. बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर आणि म. गांधी यांच्या भेटी घेतल्या आणि ३० मार्च १९४२ रोजी आपली योजना जाहीर केली. ती खालीलप्रमाणे- हिंदूस्थानला वसाहतीच्या दर्जाचे पूर्ण स्वातंत्र्य दिले जाईल. महायुद्ध संपताच घटना समितीची निर्मिती करण्यात येईल. घटना समितीमध्ये संस्थानिक आपले प्रतिनिधी पाठवू शकतील. प्रांतिय कायदेंडळातून घटना समितीचे सदस्य निवडले जातील व त्यांची निवड प्रमाणशीर प्रतिनिधीत्व या तत्त्वानुसार होईल. अल्पसंख्यांकांच्या हितसंरक्षणाची व्यवस्था ब्रिटिश सरकार करेल. जोपर्यंत युद्ध चालू आहे तोपर्यंत सरंक्षणाची जबाबदाीर इंग्लंडवरच राहील,  त्यासाठी संरक्षण व्यवस्थेवर इंग्लंडचाच ताबा राहील. या योजनेुळे भारतीयांचे समाधान झाले नाही. राष्ट्रसभा, मुस्लिम लीग, संस्थानिक या सर्वांनी ही योजना फेटाळून लावली.  क्रिप्स योजना अपयशी झाली कारण- काँग्रेसने विरोध केला, कारण हिंदी जनतेची मागणी होती हिंदूस्थानला स्वयंनिर्णयाचे तत्त्व लागू क
